
Renewing Materials at MPL
Most items that you borrow can be renewed twice, as long as there are sufficient copies available and they are not requested by another patron.
Each renewal extends the due date by the same length of time as you originally borrowed the item. If a patron would like to return and borrow the same item again, this can be done, in the case that there are no other patrons requesting the item.
The renewal period starts on the day you renew an item, not the original date the item was due. We recommend that you not wait until the last minute before trying to renew an item in case it can't be renewed for any reason. You are still responsible for any late fees if an item cannot be renewed and is returned late.

How Do I Renew Items?
There are a few easy and convenient ways to renew materials borrowed from the library:
- In-person at a service desk during library hours
- Online through our "My Account"
- Through our automated phone system
- By using MPL's Mobile App
Online Through "My Account"
Login To Your Account
- Select "Login" at the top right-hand corner
- Enter your username or full barcode from your library card
- Enter PIN (usually the last four digits of your telephone number)
- Click Submit
Renew Your Items
- Sign in to your account.
- Select the Checkouts section.
- Please check the box on the left for the items you would want to renew
- Click "Renew Marked" or "Renew All'

Using The MPL's Mobile App
- Go to "My Account"
- Select "View My Record"
- Select "Your Patron Card" from the presented options
- Click "My Checkouts"
- Highlight the items you want to renew
- Click "Renew Selected" on the right corner at the top
- A pop-up message appears with the updated due date
Renew Items Using Automated Phone System
An automated Phone System enables you to use your touch-tone telephone to renew items. Here's how:
- Dial 905-875-2665 which is our regular phone number
- Select 6 to renew items
- Enter your 14-digit library card number and PIN when prompted Notre: your PIN is usually the last four digits of your phone number
- Follow the prompts

Why You May Not Be Able To Renew An Item
- You have already renewed the item the maximum number of times
- It is a popular item with a waiting list and no available copies
- It is a popular item with a waiting list, and the "available" copies are not copies that can fill holds
- It was borrowed through Interlibrary Loan
- Your library card has expired
